Recipe: Perfect Spinach Burgers

Spinach Burgers. Mix well in a bowl like this: Now, form into burger-sized patties. (or you can do spinach balls) Heat a non stick skillet over med-high. Spray with a bit of cooking spray. And yes, the burgers are quick and easy enough to make on a busy weeknight.

These burgers come together rather quick and cook up just as fast. Grill buns, cut side down, over medium heat until toasted. Serve burgers on buns; top with spinach dip, tomatoes and lettuce. You can have Spinach Burgers using 6 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Spinach Burgers

  1. You need 500 grams of Spinach, tough stalks removed.
  2. Prepare 2 of Eggs, beaten.
  3. You need 1 pinch of freshly grated Nutmeg.
  4. It's 3 clove of of Garlic, crushed.
  5. It's 100 grams of fresh white Breadcrumbs.
  6. Prepare 50 grams of Parmessan, finely grated (or vegetarian alternative).

I tweaked it a little per the suggestion of other reviewers, and sauteed the garlic with some onion and added fresh spinach to that mixture (didn't even drain this before adding to the meat), and I probably used a little more feta than the recipe specified. Finely chop the spinach in a food processor and tip into a bowl. Add the cooled onion, breadcrumbs, nutmeg, cheddar and Parmesan, and mash together. Add the beaten egg, a little at a time (you may not need all of it), until the mixture holds together.

Spinach Burgers instructions

  1. Blanch the spinach in a saucepan of boiling salted water for about 2 mins..
  2. Remove, drain and allow to cool slightly..
  3. Squeeze out as much water as you can and chop all the leaves finely..
  4. Put the spinach in a bowl and stir in the egg, nutmeg, garlic, breadcrumbs and cheese, as well as some salt and pepper for seasoning..
  5. Mix well until you reach a nice binding consistency. If the mixture is too wet, add some more breadcrumbs..
  6. Shape into burgers, place on a sheet of greaseproof paper, another sheet on top of the burgers. Place in fridge to chill (overnight if possible), or freeze..

Divide into eight (see tip below) and shape into fat burgers. The spinach doesn't really add flavor but seems to add moisture and volume. A Spinach Burger, however, is really filling! FRESH HERBS The herbs can really be tasted, try not to skip them. Thick, hearty, savory and delicious spinach burgers.
